Updated: 2026-10-19

> dijitul web design builds websites for UK independent garages, MOT test centres, and tyre centres. Drivers can book an MOT or service online, see clear prices, check your IMI and EV credentials and tap to call. Each service gets a page that ranks for local searches. Garage websites start from £500 + VAT, with smaller sites from £250 + VAT.

Price: From £500 + VAT

## Problems this solves

- Your phone rings all day with 'how much is an MOT?'
- Main dealers and booking sites outrank you for 'MOT near me'
- You have invested in EV training but nobody knows
- Your site still says you are closed Saturdays
- People book through a third-party site and you pay for the privilege
- Your prices page has not changed since before the last price rise

## Key facts

- GOV.UK sets the maximum MOT fee for a car (class 4) at £54.85 and for a motorcycle over 200cc at £29.65; you can charge less
- DVSA says its logos are protected by law and cannot be used without permission, so we never add DVSA branding to your site without it
- IMI TechSafe recognition on the IMI Professional Register covers safety-critical work on electric, hybrid and ADAS-equipped vehicles
- Online booking for MOT, servicing and diagnostics, linked to your garage management system where possible
- AutoRepair schema.org markup with opening hours and services
- Links to the free GOV.UK MOT history check and MOT reminder service, which drivers trust

## What drivers search for

Garage searches are urgent and local: "MOT near me", "cheap MOT Mansfield", "car service while you wait", "clutch replacement cost", "EV servicing independent garage", "engine warning light diagnostic". Most come from phones, often by the side of the road or in a work break. The driver wants to know you do the job, roughly what it costs, when you can fit them in and how to reach you.

So we put booking, price and phone number on the first screen of every service page. Each core service gets its own page: MOT, interim and full services, brakes, clutches, timing belts, exhausts, tyres, air conditioning, diagnostics and EV or hybrid work. A page that explains what a full service includes, how long it takes and what it costs will outrank a single list of services, and it answers the questions your reception team fields all day.

## MOT pages and online booking

The MOT is how most independents win a new customer, so the MOT page matters most. GOV.UK sets the maximum fee for a class 4 car MOT at £54.85 and allows test stations to charge less. If you discount, say so plainly with the actual price. The DMCC Act 2024 drip pricing rules, in force since April 2025, mean any compulsory extra must be in the headline price.

We add online booking for MOTs and services. Where your garage management system has a booking module, we connect it so bookings land in your diary. Otherwise we can use a standalone booking tool with time slots per bay. Booking direct through your own site avoids paying a third party for customers who were searching for you anyway. See booking website design for how we set up slots, reminders and deposits.

Linking drivers to the free GOV.UK MOT history check and the GOV.UK MOT reminder service is a simple way to show you are on their side, and it gives people a reason to come back to your site each year.

## Credentials: IMI, EV and DVSA branding

Drivers worry about trusting an unknown garage, and more so with electric and hybrid cars. The Institute of the Motor Industry runs the IMI Professional Register, where technicians can be publicly listed. IMI TechSafe recognition within that register covers safety-critical work on electric, hybrid, hydrogen and ADAS-equipped vehicles and requires ongoing CPD to keep. If your technicians hold it, we build a credentials page that names the qualifications and links to the register so customers can verify them.

Be careful with official logos. DVSA's own guidance says its logos are protected by law and cannot be used without permission. Inside your station you display your authorisation certificate and fees and appeals poster as DVSA requires; on the website we describe you as an approved MOT test centre in words and leave official marks out unless you have permission. The same applies to trade association and scheme badges: the CAP Code bars trust marks shown without authorisation.

## Prices, reviews and local search

Garages that publish service prices take fewer calls asking for them. We build a prices page you can edit yourself: MOT, service tiers by engine size, common jobs from a set price, and your labour rate if you are happy to show it. Where a price depends on the car, we explain what affects it rather than hiding it.

For local search we set up AutoRepair schema.org markup, a fully completed Google Business Profile with every service listed, and a review request link your team can send after each job. A site that loads fast on a phone also helps; Google counts a Largest Contentful Paint of 2.5 seconds or less as good, and we build to that.

## Garage website prices

A small MOT station or mobile mechanic can start on Starter, from £250 + VAT, with up to five pages, click-to-call and Google Business Profile. Most garages choose Business, from £500 + VAT, for a page per service written to rank, schema, booking integration and conversion tracking. Selling tyres or parts online is ecommerce, from £750 + VAT. Booking software and garage management subscriptions are separate. See also web design for tradespeople and our prices.

## FAQs

### Can customers book an MOT on our website?

Yes. We connect your garage management system's booking module if it has one, or set up a booking tool with slots for MOT bays and workshop time. Customers pick a time, get a confirmation and reminder, and the booking lands in your diary.

### What is the maximum we can charge for an MOT?

GOV.UK sets the maximum MOT fee at £54.85 for a class 4 car and £29.65 for a motorcycle over 200cc. You can charge less. If you advertise a discounted MOT, show the real price clearly and include any compulsory extras in it.

### Can we use the MOT or DVSA logo on our website?

DVSA says its logos are protected by law and cannot be used without permission. We describe you as an approved MOT test centre in words and only add official logos if you have written permission. Your station still displays the authorisation and fees notices DVSA requires on site.

### How do we show our EV qualifications?

If your technicians hold IMI TechSafe recognition or EV qualifications, we build a credentials page naming them and linking to the IMI Professional Register so drivers can check. EV and hybrid servicing also gets its own service page, as it is searched for separately.

### Should we publish service prices?

We recommend it. A prices page with MOT, service tiers and common jobs cuts phone calls and builds trust. Where a price depends on the vehicle, we explain what affects it. You can edit prices yourself after training.

### Will the site help us beat booking sites in Google?

It gives you a fair chance. Service pages written to rank, a complete Google Business Profile, AutoRepair schema and steady reviews are what help an independent appear in local results. Nobody can guarantee rankings, but direct bookings save you any third-party commission.
