> dijitul web design builds custom, mobile-first websites for UK businesses from a Mansfield studio trading since 2006. Every site is designed from scratch, built to pass Google's Core Web Vitals and set up to turn visits into calls and enquiries. Prices start at £250 + VAT for a Starter site, and you own the website and domain.

Price: From £250 + VAT

## Problems this solves

- Your last developer disappeared and nobody has the logins
- The site says nothing a competitor's site doesn't also say

## Key facts

- Starter websites from £250 + VAT, Business from £500 + VAT, Ecommerce from £750 + VAT
- Custom design on every project, never a resold template
- Built to Google's Core Web Vitals targets: LCP 2.5s or less, INP 200ms or less, CLS 0.1 or less
- Accessibility checked against WCAG 2.2 AA
- WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce, Webflow or hand-coded static builds
- You own the site and the domain, with no lock-in
- Trading since 2006 as DIJITUL LTD, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire

## What web design actually covers

Web design is more than how a site looks. A good designer decides what each page is for, who it is talking to, what they should do next, and how the page has to behave on a 375 pixel wide phone as well as a 1440 pixel monitor. Visual design is one layer. Underneath it sit structure, words, speed, accessibility and search.

On a typical dijitul project that breaks down into:

- **Structure and UX:** the pages you need, the order of content and the route to an enquiry. See UX design and wireframing and prototyping.
- **Visual and interface design:** type, colour, spacing and components that match your brand. See UI design.
- **Content:** headings and copy that answer real questions. See website copywriting.
- **Build:** clean, responsive code with images served as WebP or AVIF and sized for each screen.
- **Findability:** titles, schema.org markup and internal links, covered on SEO-friendly web design.
- **Access for everyone:** contrast, focus states, alt text and keyboard use, covered on accessible web design.

If you want the practical side of what you get, step by step and at what price, read our website design page.

## Why mobile and speed come first

Most of your visitors are on a phone. StatCounter's figures for September 2026 put mobile phones at around 54% of UK web page views, with tablets adding another 5%. Ofcom's Online Nation 2025 report found smartphones account for 75% of men's and 79% of women's time online in the UK. So we design the phone layout first and scale up, not the other way round.

Speed is measured by Google's Core Web Vitals. According to web.dev, a page has good performance when, at the 75th percentile of real visits, **Largest Contentful Paint** is 2.5 seconds or less, **Interaction to Next Paint** is 200 milliseconds or less and **Cumulative Layout Shift** is 0.1 or less. We hit those by keeping scripts lean, reserving space for images, preloading the main image and choosing hosting that responds quickly.

Accessibility sits alongside speed. We design to WCAG 2.2 level AA, the current W3C standard, which covers text contrast of at least 4.5:1 for body copy, visible keyboard focus, labelled form fields and touch targets of at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels. It helps disabled visitors, older visitors squinting at a phone in sunlight, and search engines, which read the same structure a screen reader does.

## Choosing the right platform

The platform should suit how you work, not the designer's habit. A rough guide:

| Your need | Usually the best fit |

| Service business that wants to edit pages and add posts | WordPress |
| Online shop, simple to run, apps for extras | Shopify |
| Shop on a site you fully control | WooCommerce |
| Design-led site with a visual editor | Webflow |
| Small site that rarely changes and must be very fast | Static build |
| You already use a hosted builder | Squarespace or Wix |

For selling online, start with ecommerce website design. For appointments, see booking website design.

## How to choose a web designer

Whoever you pick, ask these questions before you pay a deposit:

- **Who owns the site and domain?** It should be you, in writing. With us it is, and there is no lock-in.
- **Is the design custom or a theme?** A reskinned theme is fine if it is priced as one. Ours are designed from scratch.
- **What exactly is in the price?** Number of pages, copywriting, SEO setup, training. Extras such as domains, stock photos, premium plugins and hosting should be listed up front.
- **How will it perform?** Ask what Core Web Vitals targets they build to and how they test them.
- **Can I edit it myself?** You should be able to change text and images without a support ticket.
- **What happens after launch?** Hosting, updates and backups need an owner.
- **Who will I actually speak to?** A named person, a phone number and a real address.

Also look at their own website. If a designer's site is slow on your phone, hard to navigate or vague about prices, yours is likely to turn out the same. Ask to see the Core Web Vitals report in Search Console for a site they built, and ask who you call when something breaks on a Friday afternoon.

We work remotely with businesses right across the UK, so being local matters less than being reachable. Browse our locations if you want to see the towns we cover.

## Other ways we can help

Not every business needs a full new site. If yours is sound but tired, a website refresh or full website redesign may be the better spend. If you are running ads, a focused landing page often converts better than a home page. Need something specific? Custom website design covers unusual layouts and features, and conversion-focused web design is for sites that get traffic but not enquiries. You can see everything on all services, read how we work, or get in touch for a quote.

## What you get

- A fast, mobile-first build on the platform that suits you
- Clear calls to action on every page: click-to-call, forms, booking or checkout
- Basic SEO foundations, Google Analytics and Search Console set up
- Google Business Profile set up or tidied
- UK GDPR friendly forms and a PECR compliant cookie banner where tracking is used

## FAQs

### How much does web design cost in the UK?

With dijitul, a custom Starter website of up to 5 pages costs from £250 + VAT, a Business site of up to 15 pages with copywriting costs from £500 + VAT and an online shop starts from £750 + VAT. Domains, hosting, stock photos and premium plugins are extras and are listed in your quote.

### What is the difference between web design and web development?

Design decides structure, content and look; development turns that into working code, forms, integrations and a content system. On small business sites we do both. For web apps and custom software beyond a website, our sister company dijitul developments takes over.

### How long does a new website take?

A Starter site is typically live in 3 to 4 weeks and a Business site in 5 to 6 weeks. The biggest variable is content: if your text and photos are ready, projects move faster. Ecommerce timelines depend on how many products need loading.

### Do you use templates?

No. Every site is designed for your business before it is built. We may use a well supported theme or framework underneath for stability, but the layout, styling and content are created for you rather than bought off the shelf.

### Will my website rank on Google?

We build every site with sound SEO foundations: fast pages, clean headings, titles, schema markup and Search Console. Nobody can honestly guarantee a position on Google. For ongoing SEO work after launch, we can point you to our specialist SEO service.

### Can I update the website myself?

Yes. Whatever platform we use, you get logins and a walkthrough so you can change text, images and prices. Business packages include a training session and a recorded walkthrough to refer back to.

### Do you work with businesses outside Nottinghamshire?

Yes. We are based in Mansfield and work remotely with businesses across the UK by phone, video call and email. Most clients never need to meet in person, and the process is the same wherever you are.
