Web Design for Gyms and Fitness Studios

dijitul web design builds websites for UK gyms, personal training studios, CrossFit boxes and yoga or Pilates studios. We connect your class booking and membership software, publish a live timetable, show full membership prices including joining fees, and make the free trial or join button the main action. Most gym sites start from £500 + VAT.

Sound familiar?

  • People ask on Facebook what time spin is on Thursday because the timetable is a screenshot
  • Your joining page lives on the software provider's domain and looks nothing like your gym
  • Your ads send people to a homepage with five different buttons
  • Membership prices are only revealed after someone fills in an enquiry form
  • You run classes, PT and a café but the site only talks about the gym floor
  • Google shows old opening hours from before you went 24/7

Key facts

  • Live class timetable and online joining from the gym software you already use (Mindbody, Glofox, TeamUp, Gymcatch or similar)
  • Membership prices shown in full: since April 2025 the DMCC Act drip pricing rules require mandatory fees in the headline price
  • The ASA ruled a Fitness First leaflet misleading in 2004 for leaving a compulsory £30 admin fee out of its headline joining price
  • Law firm Taylor Wessing reports the DMCC subscription contracts rules are now expected in spring 2027, so cancellation pages need to be easy to update
  • ExerciseGym schema.org markup with opening hours, including 24-hour access where it applies
  • Separate landing pages for paid social offers, so ad traffic does not land on the homepage

How people choose a gym online

Gym searches mix location with a goal: "24 hour gym near me", "reformer Pilates Nottingham", "women only gym", "personal trainer for beginners", "gym with no contract". People compare two or three options on their phone, usually in the evening, and the deciding questions are price, contract length, hours, parking and whether they will feel out of place.

So the site has to answer those plainly. We put membership options, contract terms and opening hours within one tap of the homepage, and we use real photos of your floor, your changing rooms and your classes. A short "first visit" page that explains what happens when someone walks in for the first time does a lot to turn nervous browsers into trial sign-ups.

Each class type or service gets its own page: spin, HIIT, Pilates, boxing, PT, nutrition coaching. That gives Google something specific to rank for "spin classes in Mansfield", and it gives your coaches a page to share.

Timetables, booking and joining online

Your gym software already holds the timetable, the class capacity and the member records, so the website should read from it rather than duplicate it. Mindbody, Glofox, TeamUp, Gymcatch and similar platforms provide timetable widgets or booking links we can embed. A schedule that updates itself when a coach cancels is worth more than any design flourish.

Online joining is the next step. Where your provider supports it, we embed or link the join flow so payment and direct debit set-up happen in their secure system, and we style the surrounding pages to match your brand so the hand-off does not feel like leaving your site. If you need something your software cannot do, such as a custom member area or challenge leaderboards, that is a fixed-quote build and our software team at dijitul developments can scope it.

We also set up Google Business Profile with your hours, including special hours for bank holidays, and add booking links where your platform supports them.

Membership prices, free trials and the law

Gym pricing gets complaints more than almost anything else. Back in 2004 the ASA ruled against a Fitness First leaflet that showed a £20 joining price with a footnote about a compulsory £30 admin fee, and told the company to include such charges in the headline price. The rule is now in statute: the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 drip pricing provisions, in force since 6 April 2025, say the headline price must include any mandatory fees. Joining fees, admin fees and compulsory app charges belong in the figure people see first.

Free trials and rolling memberships are also in the government's sights. The DMCC Act's subscription contracts regime will add reminder notices and easy cancellation rules; law firms Taylor Wessing and Osborne Clarke both report the start date has slipped to spring 2027. We build your membership terms and cancellation information as an editable page, so you can update it in minutes when the rules land rather than paying for a redesign.

On the page itself we keep it simple: each membership tier, the monthly price including compulsory fees, the minimum term, the notice period and what is included. Clear terms reduce chargebacks as well as complaints.

Landing pages for your offers and ads

Most gyms run January offers, summer challenges or paid social campaigns. Sending that traffic to the homepage wastes money, because the homepage has to serve members, prospects and staff at once. We build separate landing pages for each offer: one headline, the offer, two or three photos, the price in full, one form or join button. No main menu to wander off into.

We add conversion tracking so you can see which campaign produced trial sign-ups, not just clicks. Under UK GDPR and PECR, tracking and ad pixels only fire after a visitor accepts cookies, and we set up the consent banner so that "reject" is as easy as "accept".

Frequently asked questions

Can members book classes on our website?

Yes, through your existing gym software. Mindbody, Glofox, TeamUp, Gymcatch and similar platforms provide a timetable widget or booking links that we embed and style. Bookings, capacity and waiting lists stay in your software, so there is one source of truth and nothing to update twice.

Do we have to show the joining fee in the price?

If it is compulsory, yes. The DMCC Act 2024 drip pricing rules, in force since April 2025, require mandatory fees to be included in the headline price. The ASA also ruled against Fitness First in 2004 for putting a compulsory admin fee in a footnote. Optional extras can be listed separately.

Can people join and pay by direct debit online?

Where your gym software offers online joining, yes. We embed or link its join flow so payments and direct debit mandates are handled securely by the provider, and we style the pages around it to match your brand. We do not store card or bank details on your website.

What about the new subscription cancellation rules?

The DMCC Act subscription contracts regime will add reminder and cancellation requirements for rolling memberships. Taylor Wessing and Osborne Clarke report it is now expected in spring 2027. We build your terms and cancellation page so you can edit it yourself when the final rules are published.

Do you build landing pages for gym ad campaigns?

Yes. Each offer gets its own page with one headline, the full price, a short form and no distracting menu, plus conversion tracking so you can see which ads produced trial sign-ups. A one-off landing page starts from £250 + VAT.

We are a small PT studio. Do we need 15 pages?

Probably not. A personal trainer or small studio often needs a home page, services and prices, about, results and contact. That fits our Starter package, from £250 + VAT, with your booking link and click-to-call built in.
