The process, week by week
A Business site usually runs like this:
- Week 1, discovery: a call about your customers, services, competitors and goals. We agree a sitemap and what counts as success, for example calls, form enquiries or bookings.
- Week 2, design: we design the home page and a key inner page for phone and desktop. You comment, we revise, you sign off.
- Weeks 2 to 3, content: we write or edit the copy, choose images and plan headings and page titles for search. See website copywriting.
- Weeks 3 to 5, build: pages built, forms wired up, schema added, images converted to WebP or AVIF, cookie consent added where tracking needs it.
- Week 5, testing: real phones and browsers, form tests, a speed check against Core Web Vitals and an accessibility pass against WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Week 6, launch: domain pointed, SSL on, Search Console verified, sitemap submitted, then training.
More detail sits on how we work.
What we need from you
Projects slow down for one reason more than any other: waiting for content. To keep to the timeline, have these ready:
- Your logo as a vector file (SVG, EPS or PDF), or a high resolution PNG
- A list of your services and the areas you cover
- Photos of your team, premises or work if you have them
- Access to your domain registrar, or the name of whoever holds it
- Two or three sites you like, and one you don't, with reasons
No logo yet? Our sister company dijitul media handles logos, branding and photography.
What you can do with the site on day one
Launch day is where a lot of website projects quietly fail: the site goes live and the owner has no idea how to use it. Before handover we make sure you can:
- Edit text, swap images and add a new page using the editor, usually the WordPress block editor
- See how many people visited, where they came from and which pages they read in Google Analytics
- Check search performance and indexing problems in Google Search Console
- Post updates and reply to reviews on your Google Business Profile
- Find every login in one handover document: domain, hosting, website admin, Analytics and Search Console
On the Business package you also get a live training session and a recorded walkthrough, plus conversion tracking so you can see which pages produce calls and form enquiries rather than just visits. That is the number that matters when you judge whether the website was worth the money.
What costs extra, in plain terms
We list extras in every quote so nothing appears later. They are:
- Domain registration, paid to the registrar in your name
- Stock photography, if your own photos won't do
- Premium plugins or apps, such as an advanced booking system
- Hosting, which we offer from £1 a day + VAT through our hosting company
Changes after launch are £45 an hour + VAT. If you want updates, backups and security handled for you, care plans start from £25 a month + VAT. Bigger or unusual builds such as membership platforms or multilingual sites get a fixed quote, so you know the total before you commit.
Website design or web design?
People use the two phrases for the same thing. On this site, web design covers the craft as a whole and how to choose a designer, while this page is about the service you buy. If you already know what you want, you might go straight to small business website design, brochure websites or one-page websites. If you have a site already, compare a redesign with a lighter refresh. When you are ready, ask for a quote.

Frequently asked questions
What is included in the Starter website package?
Our Starter package from £250 + VAT includes up to 5 pages, a custom design rather than a template, a mobile-first build, a contact form and click-to-call, Google Business Profile setup, basic SEO foundations and Analytics with Search Console. It is typically live in 3 to 4 weeks.
Do I have to pay everything up front?
Payment terms are set out in your quote before any work starts. Ask us on the first call and we will explain exactly when each payment falls, so you can plan around it.
How many rounds of design changes do I get?
We revise the design until you are happy enough to sign it off, within the agreed scope. Changing the scope after sign off, such as adding new pages or features, is charged at £45 an hour + VAT or quoted as a fixed price first.
Can you write the content for me?
Yes. Copywriting is included in the Business package from £500 + VAT. We interview you, write each page with clear headings and calls to action, and send it for approval before it goes live.
Who owns the website when it's finished?
You do. The website, its content and the domain belong to your business. We hand over every login at launch and there is no lock-in, so you can move hosting or designer whenever you like.
What happens if I need changes after launch?
Small changes are £45 an hour + VAT. If you would rather have updates, backups and security monitoring covered, website care plans start from £25 a month + VAT through our support company.
