Sound familiar?
- Agency quotes are far beyond your budget
- A cheap website deal turned out to be a monthly rental you can't leave
- DIY builders look easy but you never find time to finish the site
- Your low cost site looks the same as hundreds of others
- You were charged for every small change after launch
Key facts
- Published prices: Starter from £250 + VAT, Business from £500 + VAT
- One-off project price, not a monthly rental
- Extras listed in the quote: domain, stock photos, premium plugins, hosting
- Hourly work after launch at £45 an hour + VAT
- Hosting optional, from £1 a day + VAT
- No lock-in: the website and domain are yours
How we keep the price down
Low cost does not have to mean low quality. It means removing waste. We do that in a few specific ways:
- A fixed scope. Starter is up to 5 pages, Business up to 15. Clear limits mean we can quote accurately and you are not paying for open-ended meetings.
- A reusable design system. We design your pages from a set of tested components, such as hero blocks, service cards and contact panels, styled for your brand. The design is yours; the engineering underneath is proven.
- Remote working. Calls, video and email instead of travel, from our Mansfield base.
- Lean builds. Fewer plugins means less to break, update and pay for.
Cheap versus affordable
The cheapest offer is not always the lowest cost. Watch for these traps:
| Watch for | Why it costs more later |
|---|---|
| Website rental with a monthly fee | You never own the site and lose it if you stop paying |
| Domain registered in the designer's name | You can't move without their cooperation |
| Bloated page builders | Slow pages that struggle with Core Web Vitals |
| No editor access | Every price change becomes a paid job |
| Unlisted extras | The final bill is higher than the quote |
Every dijitul quote states the price, what is included and what is not. The domain is registered to you. If you ever want to leave, you take everything with you.
What your budget gets you
From £250 + VAT (Starter): up to 5 pages, custom design, mobile-first build, contact form and click-to-call, Google Business Profile, basic SEO foundations, Analytics and Search Console. Typically live in 3 to 4 weeks.
From £500 + VAT (Business): up to 15 pages, a page per service, copywriting, full schema markup, local SEO groundwork, speed work to pass Core Web Vitals, conversion tracking and training.
From £750 + VAT (Ecommerce): a Shopify or WooCommerce shop with payments, delivery rules and a Google Merchant Centre feed.
If even Starter feels like more than you need, a one-page website or a single landing page are both covered by the Starter price. See the full pricing.
Running costs, honestly
After launch, a small website has three ongoing costs: the domain renewal, hosting and maintenance. You pay the domain registrar directly. Hosting with our sister company starts from £1 a day + VAT, though you are free to use any host. Maintenance can be done by you, paid for when needed at £45 an hour + VAT, or covered by a care plan from £25 a month + VAT that handles updates, backups and security.
A static website can reduce running costs further for sites that rarely change, because there is no database or plugins to update.
Where we never cut corners
Keeping prices low only works if the basics are right, so a few things are fixed on every project, including the cheapest:
- Mobile-first build. Most UK browsing happens on phones; StatCounter's September 2026 figures put mobile at around 54% of UK web page views.
- SSL and security basics. HTTPS on every page, spam protection on forms and up to date software at launch.
- Accessibility basics. Readable contrast, labelled form fields and alt text on images, checked against WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Legal basics. A privacy notice, and a cookie banner that follows PECR where analytics or ads cookies are used.
- Ownership. The domain in your name and every login handed over.
These are the things that quietly go missing from bargain basement sites, and they are the things that cost the most to put right later.
Who affordable web design suits
Our lower cost packages suit new businesses, sole traders, trades, local services, clubs and charities that need a credible site quickly. See small business website design, web design for startups and web design for charities. If your site needs complex features such as memberships or integrations, we will say so and give you a fixed quote rather than squeeze it into a package that won't fit. Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest website you offer?
Our Starter package from £250 + VAT is the entry point. It includes up to 5 custom designed pages, a mobile-first build, contact form, click-to-call, Google Business Profile setup and basic SEO. A one-page site or single landing page also falls under the Starter price.
Why are you cheaper than some agencies?
We work to a fixed scope, reuse a tested component system, work remotely and keep builds lean. That cuts hours without cutting design or quality. Larger agencies often carry office, account management and sales costs that end up in the price.
Are there monthly fees?
Only if you choose them. The website itself is a one-off price. Hosting from £1 a day + VAT and care plans from £25 a month + VAT are optional. Your domain renewal is paid to the registrar directly.
Is an affordable website worse for SEO?
Not with us. Starter sites include basic SEO foundations: page titles, clean headings, a sitemap, Search Console and Google Business Profile. The Business package adds full schema markup, local SEO groundwork and speed tuning to pass Core Web Vitals.
Can I use a template to save money?
We design every site for the business, so we don't sell off the shelf templates. Our component system gives you a similar saving while keeping the layout and styling specific to your brand and content.
