Sound familiar?
- Couples email asking 'how much?' because your prices are hidden in a brochure
- Your directory listing gets more enquiries than your own site
- Your gallery is six years old and the venue has changed
- Enquiries arrive without a date or guest numbers
- Open days are only promoted on Facebook
- The site is slow because every page loads full-size photos
Key facts
- Package and pricing pages that include every mandatory charge in the headline price, as the DMCC Act drip pricing rules have required since April 2025
- Check-a-date form or availability calendar, the first thing couples ask a venue
- Brochure as a web page with a PDF download, so Google can index it and couples can read it on a phone
- Open days and wedding fairs marked up as Event schema; venues use EventVenue markup
- "Award-winning" or directory badges only with evidence and permission: CAP Code rules 3.7 and 3.50
- Real wedding stories with supplier credits, written to rank for venue and style searches
How couples search for venues and suppliers
Wedding planning starts with broad, visual searches and narrows fast: "barn wedding venues Nottinghamshire", "exclusive use wedding venue with accommodation", "small wedding venue for 40 guests", "wedding florist near me", "wedding cake maker Derby prices". Once a couple has a date and a shortlist, they look for three things: availability, price and proof that the day will look like the pictures.
A wedding website must answer those directly. For venues that means capacity for ceremony and reception, whether you are licensed for ceremonies, accommodation, catering rules, curfew and the date check. For suppliers it means style, coverage area, prices and availability. We give each wedding style, space or service its own page, because couples search for "marquee wedding" and "micro wedding" separately and so does Google.
Prices and packages couples can trust
Many wedding businesses hide prices behind a brochure request. Couples increasingly skip businesses that do, and the law now expects transparency. The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 drip pricing provisions, in force since 6 April 2025, require the headline price to include any mandatory fees. A per-head package price with a compulsory service charge, venue hire fee or corkage that applies to everyone must show the total, not add it later.
We build package pages that set out what is included, what costs extra, minimum numbers or minimum spend, deposit and payment schedule, and the cancellation terms. Where prices vary by season or day of the week, a simple table does the job. If couples book and pay a deposit online, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 normally apply, and your terms should explain cancellation rights clearly; we write the wording for you to check with your adviser.
Galleries, real weddings and speed
Couples buy with their eyes, so photography carries the site. It also makes wedding sites slow. We resize every image into several widths, serve WebP or AVIF and lazy load galleries, so a phone gets a crisp image without downloading a 5MB file. Google's Core Web Vitals count a Largest Contentful Paint of 2.5 seconds or less as good, and a gallery-heavy page can hit that when it is built properly.
Real wedding pages work harder than a single gallery. A post about one couple's day, with their permission, the season, the styling and credits for each supplier, ranks for searches that mention your venue or style and gives other suppliers a reason to link to you. Credit the photographer properly; their copyright usually stays with them. For photographer sites specifically, see web design for photographers.
Enquiries, date checks and open days
The enquiry form should give you what you need to reply properly: wedding date or season, guest numbers, ceremony and reception, budget range and how they found you. A check-a-date form that leads with the date field gets higher-quality enquiries than a generic contact form. If you keep a live diary, we can show availability by month.
Open days and wedding fairs get their own event pages with Event schema, so they can appear with dates in search results, and a booking form that caps numbers per slot. Viewings can use a booking tool so couples choose a time themselves.
Claims, badges and what it costs
Wedding businesses love awards, and the ASA's CAP Code expects evidence for them. Rule 3.7 requires documentary evidence for objective claims, so "award-winning" needs a named award you can prove. Rule 3.50 bars trust marks and quality marks shown without authorisation, which covers directory and awards badges you have not been given. Memberships count too: in one upheld case, a photographer's website implied he belonged to a wedding and portrait photography society, and he had no evidence of it.

Frequently asked questions
Should a wedding venue show prices on its website?
We recommend it. Couples filter out venues that hide prices, and since April 2025 the DMCC Act requires headline prices to include mandatory fees such as compulsory service charges. Showing package prices, minimum numbers and what is included filters enquiries and saves you time.
Can couples check our availability online?
Yes. We can build a check-a-date form that leads with the date field, or show availability by month from a diary you update. Live availability from a venue management system is possible and quoted once we know the software.
Should our brochure be a PDF?
Use both. We put the brochure content on web pages so Google can index it and couples can read it on a phone, then offer the designed PDF as a download. You can ask for an email address before the download if you want to follow up.
Can we say we are award-winning?
Only if you can prove it. CAP Code rule 3.7 requires evidence for objective claims, so name the award and year. Rule 3.50 bars showing awards or directory badges you are not authorised to use. We add genuine awards with the details.
Can we promote open days and wedding fairs?
Yes. Each open day gets its own page with date, time and a booking form, marked up with Event schema so search engines can show the date. You can cap numbers per time slot to avoid overcrowding.
Can you build a site for a small wedding supplier?
Yes. Florists, cake makers, celebrants, hair and makeup artists and DJs often need five pages or fewer: home, services and prices, gallery, about and contact. That fits Starter, from £250 + VAT, with an enquiry form and Google Business Profile.
